MAKE BIG OIL PAY: HOLD POLLUTERS ACCOUNTABLE IN WISCONSIN
SIGN THE PETITION
Wisconsin communities are paying the price for the climate crisis—rising floodwaters, extreme heat, worsening air quality, and failing infrastructure. These disasters are costing billions, draining public resources, and hitting working families the hardest.
The science is clear: Big Oil companies knew for decades that their products were fueling climate change, yet they deliberately misled the public and blocked action—all while making record-breaking profits. Now, Wisconsin taxpayers are left to foot the bill for the damage.
💰 The Cost of Climate Change in Wisconsin
A 2024 study by the Center for Climate Integrity estimates that climate adaptation and mitigation in Wisconsin will cost a minimum of $16 BILLION by 2040. 70% of those costs will fall on the already strapped budgets of cities and counties.
These costs include:
✔️ Infrastructure repairs from flooding, storms, and heat damage
✔️ Rising utility bills and higher taxes to cover climate-related
expenses
✔️ Increased healthcare costs due to pollution and extreme weather
Wisconsin taxpayers should not be responsible for the damage caused by corporate polluters.
We Demand Action
We call on state, city, and county leaders to file lawsuits against fossil fuel corporations and demand they pay their fair share for the destruction they’ve caused. Other states and cities across the country are taking legal action—Wisconsin must not be left behind.
Why 44 States, cities and counties are suing big oil and why lawsuits matter:
✔️ Make polluters pay – Big Oil should cover the costs of climate disasters, not Wisconsin residents.
✔️ Protect Wisconsin’s economy – Legal action can recover billions for adaptation and rebuilding.
✔️ Create real change – Climate litigation can fund sustainable solutions and a just transition.
